OUR PROGRAMS
Literacy
The Gathering of Eagles supports literacy through the Mind over Medals Reading Program. The program has two purposes: to raise awareness about Olympic and other Sports legends through children’s books while teaching children between the ages of 4 and 10 the elements of reading.
Scholarships
The Melvin Pender Champion of Change Scholarship is a prestigious one-time award honoring six outstanding high school seniors recognized for athletic excellence in track and field and for academic achievement.
The Gathering of Eagles, 501c3 embodies Dr. Melvin "Mel" Pender, Jr.'s dedication to honoring the sacrifices and achievements of Olympians while nurturing future generations.
Our aim is to positively transform the lives of 10,000 emerging and established track and field champions. Through targeted resources, scholarships, and community-building events, we strengthen the bonds between athletes, honor the legacy of the sport, and pave the way for future generations to flourish.
